For this San Francisco gallery’s final show, I wanted to paint someone who represented to me the defiant, resilient, creative artist spirit. I was torn at what to title this piece since Donald Glover contains multitudes as an actor, musician , comedian, writer, producer and director. Between the TV series Atlanta. the album Awaken, My Love and music video This is America, how can one not be blown away by his work? He is an artist who could do anything and chooses to reflect and critique modern times with such intention. The portrait was created by studying multiple press and fashion shoot photos. I hope I captured his care-free style that contains a person with incredible depth and nuance.
